Georgi Petrovich Katys

In May 1964, Georgi Katys and Konstantin Feoktistov were
choosen to train for the first Voskhod mission. Apparently Katys was supported b
Academicians Keldysh, Ishlinski and Trapeznikov, however it was Sergei Korolyov
that had he final say, and he chose Feoktistov. Katys was therefore assigned as
the back-up to Feoktistov on Voskhod 1. Above: two Voskhod 1 signed covers from
Georgi Katys, an early and very hard to find soviet unflown cosmonaut.
