Graduated from Moscow Air Force Technical School and from a civil test pilot school; civilian test pilot at LII; was selected as cosmonaut on 15.02.1984 (LII-3); OKP (cosmonaut basic training): 9/85 - 1987; Zabolotsky was assigned as back-up commander for the first Buran mission, schedulled for late 1993; he workes now at the Zhukovsky Flight Test Center of LII.
