Graduated from Higher Air Force School in Orenburg, 1963;
graduated from Aerospace Institute Moscow, Department Akhtubinsk, 1973; test
pilot, airforce; was selected in January 1979 for Buran-flights (GKNII-1); in
the beggining of 1979, the Soviet Air Force selected and trained its own group
of Buran test pilots. Unlike the "Igor Volk Group", these were military officers
who remained assigned to the Chkalov Flight Research Center, at Akhtubinsk.
Bachurin, along with Borodai where the only ones to finish the 1979 class.
Bachurin conducted 6 Buran ALTs in 1987 and 1988; OKP (cosmonaut basic training):
1/79 - 11/80; retired because of medical reasons; then he worked at the Gagarin
Center; later test pilot for project "Alfa" und then until 1993 test pilot for "Thermoplan";
since 1999 advisor for a national aviation commitee.
